In a shocking showdown, Queen Elizabeth has overturned her earlier decision by naming Prince William, her grandson as her successor, GLOBE reports.
In what appeared as a palace coup, the Queen had earlier named Prince Charles, her son and father of William as her successor and the head of Commonwealth.
The Prince of Wales was named the next Head of Commonwealth in April 2018, after leaders reached an agreement to honour Her Majesty’s “vision, duty and steadfast service” to the institution.
The Prince who took the honorary position in the Commonwealth and was to eventually become King, following the “sincere wish” expressed of the Queen visited Nigeria in October this year.
“I am deeply touched and honoured by the decision of Commonwealth Heads of State and Government that I should succeed The Queen, in due course, as Head of the Commonwealth,” Charles said.
“Meanwhile, I will continue to support Her Majesty in every possible way, in the service of our unique family of nations.”
Reports claim that William confronted his 70-year-old father at his father’s country estate Highgrove. The alleged move has thrown the royals into chaos.
Charles is said to be fighting back after an ultimatum from wife Camilla Parker-Bowles.
“Becoming Queen is Camilla’s lifelong dream,” a palace source snitched. “She won’t let anything – or anyone – stop her.
“Exploding at her husband, she coldly laid out the consequences if he didn’t become King.”
However, GLOBE sensationally claims William “isn’t afraid of his father.”
“He’s got the Queen’s blessing to do whatever is needed.”
Recall that earlier this year, Star claimed to have learnt that in a shocking palace twist that William has been bumped up in the line of succession and is now next to be King!
A source dished that several government leaders within the Commonwealth secretly met earlier this year to plan how 92-year-old Queen would step down and allow William to take over.
Charles allegedly felt “blindsided” and “betrayed”, Star reports.
“This is a totally unprecedented move. But as the Queen gets older she’s figuring out how to keep the royal family relevant,” an insider dished.
“William and Duchess Kate are injecting desperately needed new life into the monarchy – and if Charles gets cast aside in the process, so be it!”
Star adds that the Queen’s decision did not come lightly.
A 2018 study showed that 83 percent of the British population have a “favourable” impression” of William, with 78 percent similarly fond of Kate.
Charles only mustered 54 percent of the public’s favour, with wife Camilla Parker-Bowles gaining a measly 31 percent.
“William and Kate are extremely well liked, and people would love to see them become king and queen,” says an insider.
