    Relations, former staffers Celebrate Don Etiebet at 77

    Some relations and  former staffers of Data Sciences have extolled the sterling virtues of Atuekong Don Etiebet, a former Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, on his 77th birthday anniversary.

    Born on September 15, 1944 in Ikot Ekpuk, Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, Etiebet is a scientist, businessman, and politician.

    Aniekan Etiebet, the managing Director of Data Sciences, Lagos, speaking with Straightnews, thanked God for sparing the life of his uncle.

    ”We thank God for who He is in the life of mu uncle. Despite of all odds especially his ill-health, God’s mercy is sufficient unto him. I do not know what is happening in the country. Before now, people lived up to 100 years, but these days you people talking about others passing into glory in their 60s.’’

    He, therefore, wished him God’s grace and good health. Apart from what happened to him, God has blessed him with good health and prosperity for him to take care of himself,’’ the nephew remarked.

    In another telephone interview with Straightnews, Ubong Etiebet, a one-time member of the National Assembly, equally thanked God for his life, saying ‘’I came to know him as a pathfinder of the family. He has been sending us in the family to schools, and giving business line to us.

    Ubong who is also a nephew to the celebrator said ‘’He is a good man, friend, caring and leader in the family. Let God grant him much happiness and many years ahead. When God gives him prosperity and good health, he will experience happiness.

    ”My message is that other family members should tow his line of integrity. Let Don Etiebet forgive and forget people who have wronged him. He should on blessing us. Already, he is a brand in the country just like Julius Caesar and other great leaders in the world,’’ he enjoined.

    Ladi Oguneye, who was the managing of Data Sciences, a company owned by Don, congratulated him on his birthday and prayed God to grant him more fruitful years ahead.

    Also, Amaechi Udeze who was Director, Hardware Engineering in Data Sciences, said it is difficult to define him, saying ”He is versatile, unrelenting, and a go-getter.’’

    Udeze who is a pastor in The Redeemed Church of God saw him in another light ‘’He is a trainer of men until they do their best. Don gives you the trust and confidence. Though he is associable, he is doing well in the professional circle. Indeed, he is a leader.

    ”I wish him best years ahead. May God bless him in an uncommon way and make him to enjoy the fruits of his labour,” as he told Straightnews.

    Don attended Holy Family College, Abak; College of Immaculate Conception, Enugu; Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, and University of Western Ontario, Canada.

    He had worked as a teacher, petro-physicist, Shell! NAM Oil Company, Oil Drilling Crew, Ho Geologist, Imperial College of Science and Technology Field Project, Passwang, geophysicist, and a lecturer, among others.

    Married with children, the septuagenarian is the Chairman, Data Sciences Nig. Ltd; Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Earth Sciences Ltd; Obodex Nig. Ltd; Hymartb Nig. Ltd; Cadun Communications Ltd and Etiebet and Co. Ltd.

    In the political circle, he had served as National Chairman of defunct National Centre Party of Nigeria (NCPN) and Chairman of All Nigeria Peoples’ Party (ANPP) and had served as Board of Trustees member, Peoples Democratic Party and is a serving BOT member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He once aspired for Presidency in Nigeria and governorship position in Akwa Ibom State.
