A retired Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Service, one Ime Nta is accused of leveling criminal defamation, blackmail, cyber stalking and intimidation against one Mrs Justina Ekpo.

Nta living at 21 Akpan Essien Street in Uyo Local Government Area is accused of using a Facebook account to spread false information against Mrs Justina Ekpo, a staffer of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

A petition signed by Bar. Ita Ekpo of Alex, Ita and Partners for the complainant, to the AIG Zone 6, blamed the ex-Deputy Comptroller of carrying out a series of false and malicious publications against Justina Ekpo, after the death of her husband, Emmanuel Ekpo in Spain.

The petition made available to this newspaper indicates that Emmanuel Ekpo, until his untimely death, was the Assistant Comptroller of Immigration at the Nigerian Embassy, Spain.

“While grieving over her loss, her attention was drawn to series of false and malicious publications trending on Immigrations platform, Facebook among other websites in which her pictures and that of her family members were splashed alongside false narratives accusing her of being responsible for the death of her husband in violation of the Criminal code and Cybercrime Prohibition Prevention Act,” the petition stated.

The petition further alleged that Mr Nta is accused of using falsehood and blackmail to instigate violence against the petitioner in order to deprive her of due entitlements, as a result of her husband’s death in active service.

While condemning Mr Nta’s use of unprintable names against Mrs Justina, calling her “a gold digger who used diabolical means to chase off the late Ekpo’s first wife,’’ the petitioner said this is unacceptable and is therefore requesting for a proof in a court.

The petition also stated that there were no objections to the deceased’s marriage to Mrs Justina, held at the Marriage Registry, after exhausting the due processes to such marriages, in line with the extant laws of the land.

The petition, therefore, claimed that Mr Nta’s motive behind the publications were simply to destroy his clients reputation, destroy her carrier progression and due entitlements as a widow of an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration.

“Our client therefore appeals to you to intervene and give the law teeth and let the teeth bite. If the AIG cannot cut this man to size and also stop his frenzied resort to criminal activities against our client, who then can?” the petition queried.

The petitioner, in a telephone chat with our correspondent, has appealed to the Police to save her soul and stop the suspect from further writing anything against her while investigations are ongoing.

However, the petitioner’s lawyer had confirmed that the suspect was arrested by men of the force from Zone 6 Command on Thursday, November 30, 2023 about 7 a.m, on the orders of the Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Further findings reveal that the Police are making frantic efforts to charge the matter to court and the accused, if found guilty, may spend a minimum of seven to 10 years in prison.

Reacting to the petition, Mr Ime Nta, who confirmed that the police invited him to their station, dismissed the accusations leveled against him as untrue.

Nta, who spoke with our correspondent at his residence on Saturday, December 2 brought out documents to authenticate his claims, saying he would use such to defend the accusations against him in court, if he is sued.
