Rihanna has withdrawn a legal case against her father, Ronald Fenty, weeks before they were due to meet in court.

In 2019, the music star alleged that her dad had misused her ‘Fenty’ trademark and his connection with her for the benefit of his own entertainment company.

She said Ronald had tried to book an overseas tour for her without permission and brought a legal case against him, suing him for false advertising and invasion of privacy.

Rihanna’s case to bring an injunction against her father was due to come to trial on 22 September, but this week, Rihanna filed to dismiss the case.

While an official reason hasn’t been shared, media reports suggest that she reached an out-of-court settlement with her father and his business partner, Moses Perkins.

According to documents seen by Radar Online, Rihanna settled out of court in an effort to avoid a public dispute.

Previously, Rihanna’s lawyers alleged that her dad and Moses Perkins created a company called Fenty Entertainment and tried to book a 15-date tour of Latin America worth $15 million (£11m), as well as shows in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, without Rihanna’s knowledge.

“Mr Fenty and Mr Perkins have used these lies in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for the false promise that they were authorised to act on Rihanna’s behalf,” lawyers said.

Rihanna’s team also alleged that Ronald tried to profit from the lucrative “Fenty” trademark, which she uses for her own business ventures.

Rihanna and Ronald are said to have a strained relationship, but the singer apparently looked after her dad last year when he caught COVID-19, sending him a ventilator and checking up on him daily.

Neither Rihanna nor her dad have commented on the recent court case developments. (Cosmopolitan)
