Two brothers, Godwin and Wisdom Udoh, indigenes of Akwa Ibom, are to die by hanging for the murder of one Miss Oluchi Okorie, a staffer of Radio Nigeria, Unity FM, Abakaliki.

A Degema High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, passed the judgement on the two, saying this was based on the confessional statements made by the defendants to the police.

The presiding judge of the court, Justice Okogbule Gbasam said from the evidence presented to the court, it was clear that the defendants were the last persons with the deceased before her death.

The two defendants were said to have picked late Okorie along East-West Road on the 10th of April 2015 on her way from Abakiliki in Ebonyi state to visit her sister in Port Harcourt.

The 1st defendant, Godwin Udoh, was said to have pushed her out while the vehicle was in motion along East-West Road on Axis of Tai local government area of Rivers State, leading to her death.

Speaking to our correspondent outside the court room, Principal State Counsel, Mr. Deinma Tamuno-Opubo of the Department of Public Prosecutions, DPP, Rivers State Ministry of Justice, said justice has been served on the death of the deceased.

Tamuno-Opubo said the judgement will serve as deterrent to persons who take lives of others at will.

Meanwhile, counsels to the two defendants declined comment on the judgement.
