Senator Sahabi Yau’ Alhaji, Sunday, expressed concerns over the senseless attacks on Zamfara State by bandits and the alarming rate of bloodbath as well as wanton destruction of economic activities in the state.
Senator Alhaji, a deputy Minority Whip of the Senate, therefore, called on security operatives to redouble their efforts to ensuring that people still in captivity regain their freedom.
In a statement in Abuja, Alhaji, however, hailed the Zamfara State Police Command for securing the release of no fewer than 40 people being held in various hideouts by volunteer vigilante groups and bandits in the state.
The Senator also commended the State government over its commitment and relentlessness in ensuring that peace returns to Zamfara by deploying measures that would once more infuse confidence in the psyche of the inhabitants of the state and re-assure them that their plights and aspirations will be addressed.
Senator Yau’, called on the security operatives to step up their game, with a view to return Zamfara State to its old peaceful days.
Describing the killings in the state as unacceptable, the federal lawmaker called on all stakeholders to do everything within their reach to end the killings in zamfara, stressing that the search for an enduring peace in the state was a task for all patriots to accomplish.
He added that as long as there was no peace in Zamfara, the state would steadily remain on the path of retrogression and vulnerability.
The senator promised do everything within his powers to ensure that Zamfara State took its rightful position through legislation and other acceptable means of interventions.
He extended his heartfelt sympathy and empathy to those who have lost loved ones since the crisis began as well as families of those whose whereabouts were yet unknown.
