Senator Ita Enang, the Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs, has resigned to run All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race in Akwa Ibom State.
This was in compliance with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari that all political appointees must resign on or before May 16 in line with Section 84 (12) of the amended Electoral Act 2022.
Enang, in his Twitter handle on Monday, May 16, wrote, “Senator Ita Enang has resigned as Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs, for the Akwa Ibom State Governorship race. ‘I hereby formally tender my resignation from office, to pursue Gubernatorial Electoral Cause.”

A lawyer by profession, Enang has passed through the various rungs of political ladder.
He had served as a local government councillor, member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, a three-term member of House of Representatives for Ibiono/Itu Federal Constituency, Senator for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, and Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate).
