    11 Suspected Armed Robbers/Cult Members in Police Custody

    Eleven suspected armed robbers and cult members have been arrested in different locations in Ondo State by police detectives.  Five of the armed robbery suspects were caught wearing military camouflage to rob their victims.  Also, four of the suspected cult members are members of the dreaded Eiye Fraternity that participated in the killing of other members of different cult gangs in the state in recent time.  They include lsiaka Kareem, Olabode Ayobami, Ebenezer Akinkuolu and Joseph Esie.

    It was gathered that the five suspected armed robbery suspects arrested include Adeniyi seun, Oluwatosin Olarenwaju, Adebowale Adeye, llo Vicent and Tunde Olayode.  They were wearjng military camouflage uniforms when they robbed one Adebisi Arowolo in Fagun Cresent in Ondo.  They reportedly dispossessed him and other occupants of cash, expensive telephones, laptop computers and other personal belongings.  Two of the suspects upon apprehension had confessed to the robbery while the manhunt for their leaders identified as Ola was ongoing.

    It was gathered that the suspects claimed that they were recruited by another leader, Tunde Olayode into Merchant Nav,y, an unknown organisation.  Items recovered from them include telephones, military camouflage, military uniforms, military fez cap and cash.  Two others, lsiaka Adisa and Damola Christopher, were arrested during police stop-and-search exercise in Akure for being in possession of guns, a 16 rounds of ammunition, 11 master keys, plasma television, DSTV decoder, laptop, one unregistered motorcycle and one Mitsubishi Canter marked Lagos LSD 4E2  XT, among others items suspected to have been stolen.

    The police image maker, Femi Joseph, confirmed the arrests.  Joseph said that the four cult members have confessed to have participated in the killing of one Akinwumi at the gate of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo recently.  He added that a team of SARS led by inspector Adegvoyeje Samuel arrested the suspects at their residence where criminal charms, weeds suspected to Indian hemp and cut to size single barrel gun were recovered.  According to him, the suspects would soon be charged to court after the completion of preliminary investigations by police detective.
