    Straightnews Editorial Board Member Emerges A’Ibom NIPR Boss

    An editorial member of Straightnews, one of the vibrant Nigerian online newspapers has emerged as the Chairman of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Akwa Ibom State chapter.

    He is Nsemeke Udoakpan, a one-time secretary of the institute, is a graduate of the Department of Communication Arts, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

    Udoakpan polled 19 votes after the disqualification of Okokon Robert, the immediate past Vice chairman of the institute on grounds of re-certification.

    Other elected members for the institute are Joseph Eton, head of Public Relations Unit, Akwa Ibom Secondary Education Board is the Vice Chairman; Imoh Uwoh, head of Public Relations Unit, State Water Company as secretary; Blessing Ambrose, Assistant Secretary; Toyin Shonak, a senior staff SIWESS, Maritime Academy, Oron as Treasurer; Anthony Udoh, journalist as Financial Secretary; and Borono Bassey, Head, Public Relations Department, Obong University, Obong Ntak in Etim Ekpo as Public Relations Executive.

    Udoakpan thanked the members for giving him the mandate to serve the institute and pledged to efficiently pilot the affairs of the `institute.

    The election was supervised by Mallam Mukhtar Sirajo, current national president of the 55-year-old institute.

    Meanwhile, Straightnews management has congratulated Udoakpan on his emergence as the institute’s chairman and enjoined him initiate programmes that elevate the status as well as improve the image of the institute.
