    Udom Relieves Etekamba Umoren, Appoints Ekuwem As New SSG

    A new Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government has been appointed.

    He is Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem replacing Sir Etekemba Umoren, who has held the position for two years and six months.

    A press release signed by Mr. Charles Udoh on Monday, state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, says Governor Udom Emmanuel has approved the appointment, noting that the change “is part of a continuous effort to re-jig the governance structure of state.”

    The release reads “the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has announced the immediate appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem as Secretary to State Government.

    The government of Akwa Ibom State thanks the erstwhile Secretary to State Government, Sir Etekemba Umoren for his services to the state and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

    Dr. Ekuwem holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics, Master’s degree in Physics; Master’s degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering (Microcomputer-based Instrumentation and Control Engineering) and a Ph.d in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (Computer-based Instrumentation and Control Engineering).

    Until his appointment, Dr. Ekuwem was the Founder and CEO of Teledom Group, Lagos; a one-time National President of the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) and a pioneer President of Nigeria Internet Group (NIG). He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA ), NEPZA.

    He hails from Ofi Uda in Mbo Local Government Area.

    The newly appointed Secretary to State Government will be sworn into office on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo at 2 p.m.
