Another person from Ikot Akpa Idem in Ukanafun local government area of Akwa Ibom State was, Tuesday, also killed by fleeing, unidentified gangsters suspected to be members of a secret cult group, Straightnews has gathered.

Elder Eno David Unanam, 70, a legendary choir master in Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Akpa Idem said to be living alone in his deserted compound was killed and dumped in his house by the unknown gunmen.

However, the corpse of Unanam, a father of five children and six grand-children, was discovered this morning Wednesday in his compound said to have been deserted due to the spate of killings and kidnapping in the village.

One Etim from the village who refused to mention his full name narrated “The relatives of the man had fled the compound for fear of their lives, but the deceased lived alone in the compound. When a kidnap kingpin was arrested Tuesday in another village, he said that he killed two persons in the village that day.

“This morning, we summed up courage and went to the compound. On reaching there, we discovered his corpse in his lonely room. The corpse has been taken to mortuary for embalmment.”

Straightnews had reported Tuesday that a 50-year-old father of three from the same village was killed by the unidentified gunmen.

It was gathered that Imoh Etuk was shot by the hoodlums at about 7:48 a.m. while he was returning from his farm to pick some produce.

An indigene of the community, who spoke from his new location in exile, Friday Eyo, said

“Some gunmen have killed one Imoh Etuk from Ikot Akpa Idem in Ukanafun Local Government Area. He ran to Usung Atiat, the neighbouring village where the wife’s family lives.

“He went home to pick some food items from his farm. They intercepted and shot him dead. Nobody lives in Ikot Akpa Idem anymore. The village is now desolate,” he explained.

DSP Odiko O. MacDon, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) when contacted by newsmen, said he was yet to be fully briefed on the incident by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Ukanafun.
