An Associate Professor in the University of Uyo, Herbert Bata is reported to have been kidnapped at Owerri in Imo State while he was returning from a trip Tuesday afternoon.
Batta is the Head of the Department of Information and Communication Studies, Faculty of Communication Arts, University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.
Facebook posts by two Uyo-based journalists: Idongesit Ashameri and Aniefiok Udonquak solicit ”Our security agencies need step up efforts. Prof has been a great blessing to generations of communication scholars and researchers.
”His freedom would mean so much to the academic world and the society at large. May God Almighty ensure his safety and facilitate his freedom.”
The journalists had been lectured by the victim.
No security agent has yet issued any press release to knowing the whereabouts of the kidnapped university don.
