The arrest of the convict came after the security agency at the Main Campus of the University of Uyo, had laid ambush for him, following a series of complaints of robbery within the university premises.
Emmanuel Okon’s last victim was a female student, whom he used a kitchen knife to dispossess her of her Techno phone and money, while she was returning from lectures.
In his extra-judicial statement to the Police, Okon confessed that he sold the phone to a man at Akamba Nsukara Offot at N6,000.
Justice Okon, in his judgment, held that the prosecution has proven the identity of the accused beyond reasonable doubt, that it was him that robbed the student on April 9, 2018.
The Court, however, held that there was no evidence that the accused used actual violence against his victims.
The judgment was delivered at the State High Court, Okoita, following the transfer of Justice Okon from Uyo Judicial Division, where the incident occurred to Ibiono Ibom Judicial Division.
