The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ward 11 in UrueOffong/Oruko, was agog on Saturday as Chief Edet Isong and Prince Emmanuel Isong returned and declared for the party.
Chief Edet Isong, a former transition chairman of Urue-Offong/Oruko, and Prince Emmanuel Isong, a retired Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, took bold steps by returning and declaring for the PDP.
Chief Isong, in his speech to mark his return to the party, expressed his enthusiasm for rejoining the PDP, stating that he is “back home to contribute, support, and work for my family, the PDP.”
He praised the leadership style of Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, acknowledging his efforts in developing the state, particularly Nsit Atai-Okobo Road and other landmark projects littered all over the state.
The newspaper baron described Governor Eno as a man who has people’s interests at heart, which motivated his decision to return to the PDP.
This development is seen as a significant boost to the PDP in ward II and Urue-Offong/Oruko, with stakeholders expressing their excitement about the return of these prominent figures.
“I cannot be outside and support my good friend, Chief Uno Etim Uno. I’m here because of a man who is working tirelessly to put Akwa Ibom state in the right direction.
The Okosisi 1 poured accolades on the PDP family in Ward Two for their steadfastness and contributions towards the growth of the party in Urue-offong/Oruko.
He also acknowledged the leadership style of the executive governor of the state, Pastor Umo Eno, Mr Uno Etim Uno, leaders in Ward Two and Urue-Offong/Oruko which contributed to his return to the umbrella party.
Until his return, Chief Isong was an active and strong member of Young People’s Party (YPP) after his defection from All Progressives Congress (APC).
The return of Chief Isong and the declaration of Prince Emmanuel Isong for the PDP was celebrated by Ward Two party members, with the deputy ward chairman, Mrs. Nkoyo Unanaonwi expressing her delight in welcoming back the respected personalities, whose contributions to the party and the community are undeniable.
Unanaonwi thanked Chief Isong for coming back home to the PDP family, saying she was happy to receive a man whose footprints cannot be forgotten in Ward Two and Urue-Offong/Oruko at large.
Goodwill messages from such stakeholders as Mr Victor Amah, Mr Edet Isong Ukpong, Mr Ikpe Effiong, Chief Daniel Afiakurue, Mr Emman Isong, Mrs Uwem Edet Okon, Comrade Clement Walter who in one voice expressed their excitement catching a big fish while fishing, describing his return as a plus to the PDP in Ward Two and Urue-Offong/Oruko.
