Exactly a week after a female banker allegedly committed suicide by drinking an insecticide known as Sniper in Ughelli, Delta State, another girl allegedly drank same substance leading to her death.
The girl simply identified as Loveth aged 18 and a resident of Imowhe street,Ughelli in Delta State had gone to check her JAMB score on Tuesday at a result checking centre where it was discovered that she performed below her expectation in the examination.
Sources at the center stated that the girl who scored 160, after checking her result, had cried out saying, “my father would kill me.”
Another source who visited the family residence of the girl stated that she had collected three bottles of Sniper from her mother’s shop the previous night.
According to the source, “The father said he did not scold her for her result but only told her that there is no way she would get admitted to study Medicine in the university of her choice.
“Feeling slighted for her poor performance after her encounter with her father, she went to stay with her mum in their shop, collected the sniper after they closed, brought it home and ingested the content only for her lifeless body to be discovered on Wednesday morning.”
It was gathered that after her remains was discovered on Wednesday morning, her parents rushed her to a Pentecostal church at Upper Agbarho for prayers where she was confirmed dead.
Efforts to speak with DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the state Police Public Relations Officer, was fruitless as at press time.
