The President of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Rev. Uma Ukpai has given reason he rejected N13 billion gift from a man.
The association has its headquarters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital.
Dr. Ukpai in a video on YouTube narrated the drama that played out between him and his wife when he rejected the huge amount from a man he encountered some years back.
”The key point to note from this story is that God has many ways to solve one problem, and we shouldn’t just accept offers because of our need. We should wait and follow God’s instruction. We should not also take decisions due to peer pressure or influence,’’ the clergyman advised.
According to him, “My wife shocked me when she said hold my hand and ask God not to allow me have heart attack because of the things you say. I prayed as she requested from me.
“The next day, we were lying on the bed when my phone rang and when I picked the call, the person said seven years ago; you prayed for me in Lagos when I was hopeless and extremely poor. He said he looked into my eyes and proclaimed to be the 7th richest man in Nigeria.
“I have become one, and this great God has asked me to give you N13 billion. I said to the young man you didn’t hear well. God did not ask you to give me N13 billion but 1 billion. Keep your N12 billion, just give me N1 billion.
“My wife protested and asked me that with all this your education, you don’t know that 12 billion is bigger than 1 billion. I told her that it is not how much the young man wants to give, but how much God wants me to take. She still insisted that I take the money, but I told her to go to bed.’’
The reverend minister stated that the man later visited him to know why he was afraid of too much money.
“I told him I am not afraid of too much money, but I don’t want to hurt God by taking what He has not asked me to take,” Ukpai explained
