The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom Command has deployed 1,000 personnel to ensure hitch-free Yuletide celebrations.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Adeyinka Ayinla, who stated this in an interview with the newsmen in Uyo, said the command has mapped out strategies to secure lives and property of residents across the state.

“We have deployed 1,000 officers and men during this festive period to ensure that the activities of criminals are shortlived.

“The aim of the operation is to ensure that the security of lives and property is guaranteed.

“The main objective also is to ensure the protection of government and private assets and infrastructure which is our core mandate,” Ayinla said.

The commandant said the command would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

He said the command has deployed personnel to Churches to protect worshippers during the period.

Ayinla said that the command has also mapped out all flashpoints in the state to ensure peace throughout the celebrations.

He urged residents, worshippers and fun makers in the state to go about their activities unmolested, stressing that adequate security has been put in place.

“We have mapped out all flashpoints and l our men undercover will be available at strategic locations to ensure the safety of lives and property.

“We will collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) around a major roundabout in the city to ensure a free flow of traffic throughout this season.

“Some of our men will be visible in all malls and recreational centres in the state, like Ibeno Beach our men have already been stationed there.”

Ayinla warned criminals and those wanting to foment trouble to stay clear as security operatives would deal decisively with trouble makers.
