Two herdsmen suspected to be kidnappers and cattle rustlers are in the custody of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping and killing another herdsman.

In a statement, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, said Hassan Amodu and Abubakar Abdullah kidnapped and killed Taye Amodu two weeks ago at Obada-Oko area of Abeokuta and made away with eight cows belonging to the victim.

Oyeyemi said “On receiving the information, the commissioner of police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, directed the officer in-charge of FSARS, DSP Uba Adam to fish out the hoodlums within the shortest possible period of time.

“In compliance with the CP’s directive, the FSARS operatives swung into action and at about 5:30 p.m of the same day, the hideout of the culprit was located in Imeko area through technical intelligence.

“The hideout in a thick forest was stormed by the operatives where the two suspects were arrested.

“Recovered from them are one pump action gun loaded with four live cartridges and two cutlasses.

“On interrogation, they confessed to have killed the victim because he was struggling with them while they were taking him away and the body has been buried in a shallow grave inside the forest.

“They equally confessed taking away eight cows belonging to the victim.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has commended the FSARS operatives for their gallantry and good display of intelligent investigation.

“The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded,” the PPRO said.
