Unhealthy Habits That Make You Age Faster

Unhealthy habits take a toll on the health of people. At times, some misconstrue smoking and drinking as most unsavory habits that can negatively affect the health of people.

Yet, you can have some habits that are unhealthy which are actually making you age faster than you should.

Before you search for anti-wrinkle cream and skin-firming solutions, you should take a look at your lifestyles that contribute to you aging faster and looking older.

    There are many habits that could be responsible for your quick aging, viz;

You Wash Your Hands and Face always

Washing your hands often during the course of the day can make them become dehydrated and could result in wrinkled and aged skin.

You can alleviate this problem by using gloves while washing clothes and using a moisturising cream to massage them regularly.

Again, washing your face all the time can make you look older than you really are. It is best to make use of a gentle cleanser without added fragrance if you must wash regularly. Also, people prone to acne most times use creams and moisturizers containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid to help keep their pimples at bay.

These ingredients however cause dryness and irritation which can lead to wrinkles and make your skin look dull and aged.

    You Sleep For Short Hours

Sleep is an important activity you should partake in often if you want to look young. Not getting enough sleep can expose you to diseases later on in life. While you may think you’re perfectly okay with getting five hours of sleep on a regular, sleeping for such hours can do serious damage to your skin, which can make you look way older than you are.

A number of researches have shown that people who fail to get quality sleep each night had increased signs of skin aging, uneven pigmentation and reduced elasticity.

Moreover, if you suffer from acne, it is important you get enough rest to preserve your youthful look and help your skin heal as you sleep. Seven to eight hours of sleep per night is recommended to ensure youthful skin.

    You Undergo Stress Regularly

Having too much on your mind, doing too much at work or constantly thinking about the things you need to do can significantly make you feel stressed and is an indication that you should relax.

Chronic stress will not only ruin your sleep patterns, increase your risk of heart disease but can also make you look as much as 8 years older than you actually are. Stress chemicals get released slowly into the body during anxiety which can make you look older.

You should determine the cause of your stress and if it is your job, try to meditate at work and exercise your muscles at work.

    You Eat Too Much Sugar

Sugary drinks will not only let you add up weight but can also have significant negative effects on your looks. A research published in 2013 found that people that have the highest blood sugar levels look older and as such, eating a lot of processed sugary foods can make your skin look dull.

Furthermore, refined sugars have a way of sapping the body’s energy, making you feel weak and older. If you must take something sweet, take a fruit instead.

    You Have Poor Eating Habits

Poor Eating habits such as crash dieting can make you age faster. Jumping from one diet to another in the hope that you can have the ideal body shape should be avoided.

Exercising and eating healthily are good choices but going on a crash diet will affect your body negatively.

Poor Eating habits can significantly rob your body of essential fats which the skin needs to help retain moisture. Cutting out certain foods from your diet is also a bad choice, because you may not get enough of the antioxidants that protect skin from the sun and other types of damage.
