A Nigerian University don, Peter Esuh has faulted the Federal Government for foisting unstable management on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

NDDC created in 2000 has witnessed many management teams.

He also blamed the federal government for “lackadaisical communication that is going on NDDC.”

Esuh, Dean of Communication and Media Studies, University of Uyo (UNIUYO) in Akwa Ibom State, who spoke during a three-day seminar on the theme: Capacity building workshop for NDDC Corporate Affairs Department in Uyo on Saturday, carpeted the Federal Government for irregular dissolution of the commission’s boards and reconstitution of new ones.

Speaking on the topic: Imperatives of Corporate Communications Management in the Public Sector, the Professor attributed policy somersaults and abandonment of development of projects in the region to constant dissolution and frequent reconstitution of the boards.

According to him, this has affected the planning and execution of projects in the region as new boards start new projects sometimes oblivious of ongoing projects.

He cited management teams of the NDDC led by such persons as Timi Alaibe, Bassey Dan Abia, Nsima Ekere, Effiong Akwa who championed different programmes  arising from issues in the commission.

He recalled that immediately Umana Umana was appointed to replace Akpabio as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Akwa as Managing Director cancelled contracts initiated and awarded by Akpabio as minister.

Esuh accused Timi Alaibe, then NDDC Managing Director for masterminding protests among Niger Delta youths in attempt to align with his people and draw the attention of the Obasanjo’s administration to the Niger Delta region.

Emphasising the need for what he called “Corporate morale conscience,” he stressed the need for every organisation including NDDC to have moral conscience in discharging duties to its publics.
