    ‘Akwa Ibom Ayaya’ crooner, Mish, reportedly dies

    A popular singer and ‘Akwa Ibom Ayaya’ crooner, Michael Aniekeme Meshach, widely known as Mish, has reportedly died.

    A family member of Mish confirmed the news of his death to newsmen on Thursday, stating that he passed away after a brief illness.

    Known for his hit song “Akwa Ibom Ayaya,” which gained immense popularity in 2011, he has left a profound mark on Nigeria’s music scene. through the promotion of Akwa Ibom culture and heritage

    The song which transcended borders became one of Nigeria’s biggest songs of the year and charted internationally. Even years after its release, the song continued to enjoy widespread airplay across the nation.

    Not much was heard about the singer after the success of the song.

    A family member who confirmed his passage of Mish said he died in Abuja.

    He hailed from Obot Okoh Mbiaobong in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

    The 42-year-old singer holds degree in Computer Science from University of Uyo. In his professional career, he released his album ‘Made in Nigeria‘, ‘Nigeria My Country‘, and ‘Plantain Boy‘.

    Mish was the founder of Mish Foundation. He dedicated his efforts to provide education to society and worked for the society to empowering youth.

    In addition, he actively engaged in diverse campaigns and initiatives, including the the Peace Concert, Akwa Ibom Talent Showcase, and the Save the Children Project.
