    Akwa Ibom Rep sponsors 16 bills, assists 27 to join Federal Civil Service

    Dr. Patrick Umoh, the member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has risen to the the occasion by sponsoring 16 bills and assisting 27 to join Federal Civil Service.

    Umoh, who featured on Passion FM, Uyo on Monday, said he sponsored 16 bills aimed at advancing national and local development, specifically mentioning the passage into law Bills on appointment of more Supreme Court judges, and Nursing profession..

    Elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was inaugurated into the house in June 2023.

    The former University of Uyo Law Lecturer also mentioned that he has facilitated the employment of 26 people including three holders of Ph.D from his constituency into the federal civil service within 15 months in the National Assembly.

    Additionally, he said he assisted in the employment of an Ukanafun son who does not belong to his primary constituency into the Federal Civil Service.

    Straightnews gathered from reliable source that the beneficiaries include Nsini Jay Akpan – Federal Civil Service Commission; Itohowo Jimmy – National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC); Aniekan Okon – National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Dr Etimbuk Obot -National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).

    According to him, he also played a crucial role in the employment of Martins Udom, Ph.D -National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS); Barr Usenobong Umoh; Mr Emineimo Ekiko-National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS); Christiana Sunday Thomas – Nigerian Federal Fire Service; Enobong Jimmy Etim – Nigerian Federal Fire Service.

    The rest are Effiong Innocent Emmanuel – Nigerian Federal Fire Service; Ubong Linus Bassey – Nigerian Federal Fire Service; Patricia Etim Michael – Nigerian Federal Fire Service; Itoro Umoren – Nigerian Federal Fire Service; Dr. Nsisong Boniface Udoakang and Edidiong Patrick Simon – National Population Commission (NPC).

    On educational support, Umoh said he paid bursary awards to more than 150 students in the National Assembly and awarded scholarships to several students, including a year one Law student of the University of Uyo as well as a 12-year-old JSS1 son of the late PDP Chapter Chairman in the area.

    Commenting on empowerment and Development, the Parliamentarian donated N5 million to a women’s cooperative society in Obot Akara local government area, facilitated the training of 50 youths in cocoa farming and donated a N5 million take-off grant to them and incorporated four cooperative societies for farmers, carpenters, motorcyclists, and youths, with a N1 million seed fund donated to each.

    ‘‘I donated six electrical transformers, installed solar lights in some communities, and spearheaded such infrastructural projects as the construction of classroom blocks in several schools.

    ‘‘I restored electricity supply to Afaha, Ekpenyong 1, and parts of Okon Wards in Essien Udim Local Government Area, which were in darkness for about a year,’’ the first-term Representative stated.
