The Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State government collected N4.47 trillions of Naira revenues from 2007 to 2022, The Dune newspaper dug the financial reports from Office of the State Accountant-General.
Godswill Obot Akpabio, who later became Senator for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, ruled the state from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015 while Udom Gabriel Emmanuel started governing from May 29, 2015 to end on May 29, 2023.

The revenue collections that include allocation from Federation Account Allocation Committee, internally generated revenue and refunds from Federal Government, among other sources, covered what the Akpabio administration collected for eight years and what the Emmanuel administration has collected for seven years, six months.
During the period under review, the Akpabio administration collected N2.25 trillion while the Emmanuel administration has so far collected N2.22 trillion remaining revenue collections for six months.
While Akpabio left N66 billion debt, Emmanuel has about N389 billion debt hanging on the neck of the state government.
