    Akwa Ibom Got N3.1trn In 10 Years – Official

    The Akwa Ibom Government in Nigeria has rolled out its annual financial report comprising collections from different sources and expenditure for various heads for 10 years spanning from 2010 to 2019.

    During the period, Akwa Ibom State collected N3,186,829,412,840.5 and spent N2,940,770,097,758.9.

    These came from internally generated revenue, statutory allocation, Value Added Tax (VAT), reimbursements, external and internal loan.

    Other sources were ecological funds, Budget Support Facility (BSF), refunds of Excess Paris Club Loan deductions, other income (including aids and grants) and aids and grants.

    These are contained in a publication entitled: ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ACCOUNTANT-GENARAL WITH AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER, 2019.

    The 234-page annual report 2019 was signed by Akwa Ibom Accountant-General, Pastor Uwem S. Andrew-Essien.

    Senator Godswill Akpabio was a Governor in the state from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015 while Udom Emmanuel took over as a Governor from May 29, 2015 to date.

    From the report, Akpabio collected about N1,903,512,265,480.1 from January 2010 to April 2015 while Emmanuel has so far collected N1,283,317,147,360.3 from May 2015 to December 2019.

    A breakdown shows that the state government got N276,301,808,843.23 in 2010; N328,455,217,299.58 in 2011; N391,325,909,326.47 in 2012; N449,599,707,643.44 in 2013; and N376,667,236,712.22 in 2014.

    Others were N243,487,156,965.67 in 2015; N197,897,843,609.26 in 2016; N247,153,385,572.13 in 2017; N314,308,703,102.76 in 2018 and N361,632,443,765.82 in 2019.

    Under expenditure profile, the state government spent N252,026,753,658.29 in 2010; N294,563,105,963.11 in 2011; N370,097,015,343.41 in 2012; N398,430,342,457.62 in 2013; N346,094,776,157.93 in 2014.

    Others were N235,835,906,770.60 in 2015; N190,084,823,442.22 in 2016; N229,974,071,843.65 in 2017; N298,750,286,658.92 in 2018 and N324,913,015,490.23 in 2019.

    According to the report, N36,719,428,275.59 was the closing balance for the 2019 financial year.
