The first series of WASSCE for Private Candidates beginning with 2018 has been unveiled by West African Examination Council in Lagos. Registration for the examinations closes December this year. According to WAEC, the first series of the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2018 will be an urban based examination and candidates will be examined in 19 subjects. The wife of Efosa Omoregie killed by suspected herdsmen on August 31 in his farm at Oben in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State has gotten N500,000 financial lifeline, courtesy of Edo State government. Mr. Roland Asoro (APC-Orhionmwon South), the Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly presented the cash to Mrs Gloria Omoregie, whose was killed by Fulani herdsman. West Metro Limited (WML), a corporate technology provider, has initiated an auto-tracking system to accelerate Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, monitoring of Value Added Tax, VAT, in the hospitality sector. The auto-remittance technology is designed to automatically track VAT from various points of transaction in the hospitality sector all the way to final payment with as little human intervention as possible. Prof. Anthony Edosomwan, a retired lecturer at the Ambrose Ali University (AAU), who was abducted recently by suspected kidnappers has been found dead around Ogida quarters, Benin City. The Octogenarian, who was a former senior lecturer at the Ambrose Ali University, was abducted in his Benin residence, penultimate Saturday. The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating revenue leakages in the oil and gas sector from January 2016 to January, 2017 was stunned that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, converted to naira the rate royalties paid in dollars before remittance into the federation account. It was observed that the CBN has been converting dollar remittances, using about N167 to $1, instead of the current N305. The federal government will increase tariffs on tobacco and alcoholic drinks from January, in a bid to raise revenue for its N8.6 trillion 2018 budget. Sen.
