A certain Raymond Ihugba has been murdered by his wife in Akwakuma Autonomous Community in the Owerri North Council Area of Imo State. Iuhagba, 50-year-old and father of four children was reportedly killed by his wife, Augustina, after a protracted squabble ensued between them. It was gathered that the remains of the victim had been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, while the suspect was on the run. The managing director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Uchechi Orji has been re-appointed for another term of five years. A statement by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, on Thursday, October 12 said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the re-appointment. The House of Representatives Thursday, October 12, joined many voices by considering a motion on review of the national minimum wage in order to avert nationwide strike action by organised labour. The Nigerian government had earlier set up a committee to review the minimum wage for workers. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government failure to meet its demands the body plans to embark on an indefinite strike. Some of the contentious issues included non-implementation of the report of the NEEDS Assessment, sustained shortfalls in personnel releases and withdrawal of allowances since December, 2015, non-payment of staff salaries in some state owned institutions and non-release of CONTISS 15 migration arrears, among others. The United States and Israel Thursday announced they were quitting the U.N.’s cultural agency- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), citing anti-Israeli bias as reason for the action. The withdrawal of the United States, which is meant to provide a fifth of UNESCO’s funding, is a major blow for the Paris-based organisation, founded after World War Two to help protect cultural and natural heritage around the world. Medical doctors working in the Nigeria’s public service have been banned by the Federal Government (FG) from engaging in private practice. The Federal Executive Council (FEC), meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari, announced the ban on Wednesday, October 11, Vanguard reports. The General-Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Rev. King may soon be executed by Lagos State Government. The Supreme Court had on February 27, 2016 affirmed the death sentence passed on King by the Appeal Court.
