Medical doctors working in the Nigeria’s public service have been banned by the Federal Government (FG) from engaging in private practice.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari, announced the ban on Wednesday, October 11, Vanguard reports.

Isaac Oyewole, the Minister of Health, who briefed reporters about the ban, said the federal government will henceforth implement the doctrine of no-work-no-pay which was contained in the nation’s law for workers embarking on strike.

Oyewole who was in company of Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, noted that most of the unions that recently embarked on strike contravened the labour laws especially the Trade Dispute Act.
