At least, 42 people are confirmed to have died in a fire aboard a bus in Zimbabwe late on Thursday, after a suspected gas tank exploded on a bus. The bus was near travelling near Beitbridge, close to the border with South Africa, when the blaze began. The Appeal Court in Abuja has reduced the 14-year jail term, earlier given to the former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame by a High Court in Abuja to 12 years. The court on Thursday, however, ordered Nyame to pay a fine of N495 million for alleged misappropriation of funds while he was governor of Taraba State from 1999 to 2007. The appeal court, however, said the law compels the court to add a fine for each of the various convictions. Federal judge Timothy J. Kelly sided with CNN on Friday morning, ordering the White House to reinstate chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s press pass immediately.
