President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at the Victor Attah International Airport on Friday’s afternoon to a rousing welcome for the flag-off of the South South zonal presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari’s presidential aircraft landed at the airport at about 3.40 p.m.

He was received by Akwa Ibom state governor Udom Emmanuel.

The President was accompanied by the National Chairman of the APC Comrade Adams Oshiomole, National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Minister for Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, among others.

However, there was no protocol glitch between officials of the state government and leaders of the APC as was the case when the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari arrived the state few weeks ago.

Governor Emmanuel, who came to the airport with some members of his state executive council, departed the airport immediately after receiving the president.

Also on ground to receive Buhari were Senator Godswill Akpabio; Minister of Labour and Productivity Chris Ngige; Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha; former Borno governor, Alhaji Modu Sheriff; APC caucus member Chief Don Etiebet; Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, among others

Meanwhile, the rally has kicked off at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium with massive crowd recorded at the facility.

The state chairman of PAC, Ini Okopido, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Leader have addressed the rally.

Adams Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman addressed the rally and presented flags to the six governorship candidates in the South South region of the country.

At 5.20 p.m. President Buhari is addressing the mammoth crowd.
