Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has faulted appointment of the Chairmen of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) from the same geopolitical zone. Recall that on October 12, 2023, President Bola Tinubu appointed Mr Ola Olukoyede as the new EFCC boss while Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye (SAN) has been the ICPC Chairman since 2019. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has voided the election of Senator Ishaku Abbo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Abbo winner of the February 25, 2023 National Assembly election, but Amos Yohanna, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, rejected the result and headed for the court.
