Unknown gunmen abducted the Paramount Ruler of Mbo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Ogwong Okon Asukwo Abang, from his palace in Ebughu on Saturday by 9 p.m. This incident adds to growing concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the Oron axis. The abduction occurred at his palace during which his wife, Obonganwan Okon Abang, was shot in the leg and was critically wounded. The founder of MedContour Services, Lagos, Anuoluwapo Adepoju, has been sent to jail over a failed plastic surgery that resulted in the demise of one Nneka Onwuzuligbo in 2020. The Organised Labour has frowned at the Federal Government’s plan to utilise the N19.66 trillion pension funds for infrastructure development. Cross River State government has secured a $3.5 billion funding from the Pan-African multilateral financial institution, African Export-importbank (Afreximbank), for some of its key infrastructure projects in the state. The state governor, Senator Bassey Otu, who was in Egypt,  last week for a workshop, also visited the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo to explore partnership in key infrastructure projects to be undertaken in the state.
