A 23-year-old man has allegedly murdered his 55-year-old mother, Christiana Sunday Isaac, over denial him of food in Akwa Ibom State. It was gathered that Akaninyene Sunday Isaac, an indigene of Uruk Uso Otoro village in Abak Local Government Area of the state macheted his mother to death for starving him of food for three days. Family sources told journalists in Uyo that Isaac usually requested money from his mother who always granted his request, but on that fateful day, she denied his request, saying there was no money. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has faulted appointment of the Chairmen of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) from the same geopolitical zone. Recall that on October 12, 2023, President Bola Tinubu appointed Mr Ola Olukoyede as the new EFCC boss while Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye (SAN) has been the ICPC Chairman since 2019. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has voided the election of Senator Ishaku Abbo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Abbo winner of the February 25, 2023 National Assembly election, but Amos Yohanna, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, rejected the result and headed for the court.
