The Court of Appeal in Abuja, Friday, sent jitters down the spine of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Nigeria’s Kano State by nullifying his election. In its judgment on Friday, the Appellate Court agreed with the judgment of the tribunal that fielding of Abba Yusuf was in breach of the Electoral Law as he was not qualified to contest that election. A pastor with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), David Musa, has been killed by his abductors after payment of N1,000,000 ransom in Kogi State. It was gathered that the cleric was abducted from his farm on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Obajana, Lokoja Local Government Area of the state. The controversial founder of Christ High Commission Church, Araromi-Ugbesi in Omuo-Oke, Ekiti State, Noah Abraham, has been re-arrested for more grievous offences. Last year, Abraham was arrested for allegedly extorting N310,000 from church members as a ticket to heaven. The joint National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has suspended the indefinite nationwide strike which entered its second day on Wednesday. Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo has ordered the Inspector-General of Police and five others to pay N200 million as damages to a housewife in Uyo, Peace Ekom Robert, over the unlawful arrest and detention. Nigerian Army has rued over the reported suicide by its officer, Lieutenant Alphonsus Alexander Kalthy Bazza, in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The social media had claimed that the family of Bazza found his lifeless body hung on a tree with a mosquito net on Saturday night.
