The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state. As University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State convoked thousands, Governor Umo Eno has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the educational development of the state. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  arrested 14 people for alleged vote buying during the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states on Saturday. In a statement posted on X, the commission said the suspects were arrested  during operations across voting centres in the three states. The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) on Saturday decried the widespread vote-buying and violence in the Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi governorship polls. A member of the CDD Election Analysis Centre (CDD-EAC), Dr. Jack Johnson, who addressed journalists at a media briefing on the off-cycle elections in Abuja, said the centre deployed over 150 fact-checkers and observers in the three states. Following an allegation of assault on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Friday ordered a thorough probe into the matter.
