Former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), BBC Hausa reported on Wednesday. Shekarau defected to NNPP days after another APC chieftain Abdulmumin Jibrin dumped the party also for NNPP. This is as the Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon. The Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has suspended the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris over an alleged N80 billion fraud and money laundering. The suspension was contained in a letter by the minister dated May 18, 2022 in which she said the move was necessitated by the need to “allow for proper and unhindered investigation into the serious allegations in line with Public Service Rules 030406.” During the suspension period, which is without pay, according to the minister, Mr Idris is not “expected to attend to your place of work or contact any official…
Fourteen months after getting nod to operate, Topfaith University in Mkpatak, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State matriculated its 104 pioneer students on Saturday. The students took matriculation oath and were admitted into four faculties of the young university which commenced its maiden 2021/2022 academic session in October 2021. The university is among the 20 private universities in Nigeria approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. The former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima Ekere, is cooling his feet in the custody of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Commission’s spokesperson Wilson Uwajaren who confirmed it to journalists on Wednesday. Ekere is said to have diverted the over N47 billion through registered contractors using registered contractors of the NDDC. The sobbing wife of David Imoh, sound engineer, lynched by Okada riders in Lekki, Lagos State narrated that he was killed for attempting to settle the rift between his friend and a rider over the remaining N100. Delta State Government has quashed the sit-at-home order allegedly imposed by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the State. This comes as some IPOB adherents attempted to enforce the sit-at-home order at Asaba, the state capital on Monday, May 16. A statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Mr. Patrick Ukah on May 16, 2022, assured of the security of lives and properties of residents.
