Iniobong Sunday Angry youths of Akon Itam community in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Monday, protested over the involuntary manslaughter of a couple along Calabar-Itu Highway by Senator Akon Eyakenyi’s convoy. Trafficker one Madam Success who lured four teenage girls from Akwa Ibom State into prostitution has been remanded. The girls (names withheld) said to be looking for fees to return to school were lured by her from Akwa Ibom to Agbor in Delta State. Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), the Nigerian subsidiary of global oil giant, Shell Plc, has agreed to pay $16 million (£13 million) to four Nigerian farmers and their communities to compensate for damage allegedly caused by pollution coming from leaks in its oil pipelines. Four Ogoni farmers and fishermen sued Shell in the Netherlands in 2008 to pay for cleaning up spills in their villages: Goi, Oruma and Ikot Ada Udo.
