Fishers in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State lost 35 engine boats worth millions of Naira in four months due to the activities of sea pirates. Consequently, they have vowed to shut down markets and government activities on Monday, October 24, 2022, over what they described as government’s refusal to assist them ward off incessant attacks by pirates. A Nigerian journalist, Oseni Rufai, has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency due to the recent flooding that has killed many and ravaged most states in Nigeria. Calm returned to Indian campus where Nigerian students were attacked last Friday, October 14, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said. The inability of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government in signing an agreement may hamper resumption of full academic activities in Nigerian public universities, Straightnews has learned.
