A middle-aged woman died in auto crash Sunday evening while she was allegedly chasing her husband on the Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar. The unidentified woman who was rushed to the hospital died minutes later, according to eyewitness. Eyewitness account said the lady spotted her husband at SPAR Calabar Shopping Mall, Calabar with another woman she suspected was dating her husband and she decided to pursue them in a car. Iniobong Sunday After spending about two weeks in kidnappers’ den, Mr. Monday Ekoriko, the Principal-General of Madonna Community Secondary School (MCSS), Oruk Anam Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom, has regained freedom. Ekoriko, a Church Elder of the United Evangelical Church (UEC), was seized by armed hoodlums, who stormed his Udianga Enem country home in Etim Ekpo LGA, on September 4, and whisked him away. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has directed setting up a Panel of Inquiry to investigate the building that collapsed in the state. This was as a four-storey along Iman Street off Aka Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital on Saturday collapsed and killed two persons. In a statement on Sunday, Governor Emmanuel expressed his deepest condolences to the families whose relatives were trapped and eventually died in the collapsed building, while wishing the survivors a quick recovery. One person died in a four-storey building that collapsed along Iman Street off Aka Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital on Saturday, the State Government has confirmed. The remains of the deceased, a male was recovered from the rubble by men of Akwa Ibom Fire Service and bagged out to mortuary. While four persons were rescued and taken to hospital, others were feared trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building which was under construction. Federal Government has asked state and local governments to intensify and set up efforts to avert related disasters in their domains. The Director-General, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Clement Nze, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, September 16 appealed to authorities in various states in the federation to work towards preventing massive flooding in the states.
