The Senate Public Accounts Committee has summoned the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over an alleged N100 billion contract awarded to 626 firms. The committee said a special periodic checks carried out on the activities and programmes of the NDDC by the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation also revealed that the contractor allegedly abandoned the projects after collecting mobilisation fee. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed that the wanted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, and four other police officers are now in its custody. Academic activities will be grounded in Nigerian public universities as Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on a one-month warning strike. ASUU announced the strike on Monday after a long meeting that started on Sunday evening at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
