The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned federal government’s reduction of religious gatherings to 50 per cent. Straightnews had reported that the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 on Thursday December 23, said indoor religious gatherings should be limited to 50 per cent with full compliance to public health measures. The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Kennedy Ibeh, has sacked the member representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency, Tochi Okere. At a plenary on Thursday, Ibeh said he sacked the Ngor Okpala representative in line with the House Rules and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is as the Speaker has also suspended three lawmakers for what he called dereliction of duty. The Nigerian Navy Board and the Nigerian Air Force Council have promoted a total of 116 senior officers. This was after a meeting on Tuesday night which was presided over by the Minister of Defence, Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (retd.). A total of 56 of the senior officers are from the Nigerian Navy. A breakdown of the promotion released showed that 35 captains were elevated to commodore while 21 commodores were promoted to the rank of rear admiral.
