The French government said it would from November 2 impose extra customs checks on British goods entering France, raising the prospect of more economic pain before Christmas…

Facebook has changed its name to ‘Meta’ in a major rebrand as the social media giant continues to face an unprecedented scrutiny over its business practices. The company said the new name would better “encompass” what it does now. The firm has made clear its future goal to create an online world, called Metaverse, where people can work, game and communicate in a virtual environment, using VR headsets. “We believe the metaverse will be the successor to the mobile internet. We’ll be able to feel present – like we’re right there with people no matter how far apart we actually are,”…
By Bassey Asuquo Museums are regarded as buildings or institutions dedicated to the acquisition, conservation, study, exhibition, and educational interpretation of objects having scientific, historical, cultural or artistic value. The Oron museum is serving such purposes. According to research, the National Museum, Oron was established in 1958 to accommodate 800 known ancestral figures (Ekpu Oro) of the Oron people which are believed to be among the oldest and finest surviving wood carvings in Africa. During the civil war, many of the wood carvings were looted and the museum severely damaged, and in 1975, it was re-inaugurated. At present, it houses the remains of the wooden sculptures and other ethnographic materials from across Nigeria. The Oron…

Religion and beliefs vary according to countries, states, tribes, ethnic groups and even individuals. According to research, in the pre-colonial era, Ibibio religion (Inam) was of two dimensions, which centered on the pouring of libation, sacrifice, worship, consultation, communication and invocation of the God of Heaven (Abasi Enyong),…

The 73-kilometre Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road in Abia and Akwa Ibom States is one of the 21 federal roads approved by Federal Executive Council for reconstruction across the six geopolitical zones of the country. Consequently, FEC approved N621.2 billion for Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to fix the 21 federal roads. Also, FEC has approved the rehabilitation of a 49-kilometre Umuahia…
Twitter said it recorded $536.8 million loss or 67 cent per share, in the third quarter of 2021, according to its financial results released Tuesday. The loss included a one-time net charge of $766 million from a shareholder lawsuit the company settled. Twitter said last month that it will pay $809.5 million to settle…
