A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has described the demise of Obadiah Mailafia, ex-Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, as ‘fishy.’ Omokri, the Nigerian socio-political activist, has urged relevant authorities to independently investigate Mailafia’s death. “Mailafia’s passing is fishy and should be independently investigated,” he tweeted. The former presidential candidate died at the National Hospital in Abuja. The 64-year-old ace Vanguard columnist and public intellectual, who had been having running battles with security agents in Nigeria over his controversial statements, is reported to have died at the National Hospital, Abuja. The people of Bonny Local Government Area in Rivers State have been thrown into mourning following the untimely exit of their council’s chairman, David Irimagha.
