The Federal Government is ready to cross sword with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for giving her 21 days to resolve the current dispute with the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and other affiliate members. The Federal Government has resumed payment of stipends to more than 24,900 beneficiaries in Akwa Ibom State under the Household Uplifting Programme-Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT). The HUP-CCT is managed by the office of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development led by Sadiya Umar Farouq. The Nigerian Medical Association has thrown its weight behind National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, and other affiliate members on the ongoing strike. The Federal Government has been sued to provide details of the ₦729 billion payment to 24.3 million poor Nigerians across the country. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, said the suit with the number FHC/L/CS/853/2021 was filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
