Nigerian Government has disbursed N93,900,000 million loans to 939 women in Akwa Ibom under the National Women Empowerment Fund (NAWEF). NAWEF is a scheme established by the Federal Government to tackle poverty and unemployment among women, especially at the grassroots, and the micro credit intervention fund is managed by Federal Ministry of Women Affairs. Fear has gripped the chief Judges of Rivers, Kebbi, Imo, Jigawa, Anambra and Cross River states as they are summoned to an emergency meeting in Abuja over the ”conflicting and embarrassing” ex parte orders emanating from their jurisdictions. Kwara State magistrate court in Kaiama has jailed a 28-year-old man six months for stealing tubers of yam. Abubakar Bani was arraigned by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command for stealing the yams from farms in Tenebo village, Kaiama local government area of the state. No fewer than 3,008 prisoners are awaiting execution in various correctional centres in the country, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, stated. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to embark on another strike action following what it called the failure of the Federal Government to implement an agreement signed with the union. Former Senator, Shehu Sani has expressed grief over the death of Abdukkarim Bala Na’Allah, who was killed at his Malali (GRA) residence in Kaduna North Local Government Area on Sunday. It had been reported that Abdukkarim Bala Na’Allah, son of Senator Bala Na’Allah, was killed by suspected bandits.
