Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has adjusted exchange rate of naira to dollar (N410/$1) at the official market, Godwin Emefiele, the CBN Governor has confirmed. Addressing bankers at a summit on the economy in Lagos on Friday, February 26, Emefiele said the official exchange rate now stands at 410 to the dollar. Emefiele also stated that the drop in crude oil earnings and the associated reduction in foreign portfolio inflows significantly affected the supply of foreign exchange into Nigeria. Again, the security circle in Calabar, capital of Cross River State in Nigeria’s South-south, has been thrown into grief following the killing of four police officers by unknown gunmen on Thursday. Cross River police spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the killing of the officers, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported. Ivory Coast has become the second country to receive a shipment of COVID-19 vaccines via COVAX, the global vaccine-sharing programme. The vaccines, 504,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine made by the Serum Institute of India, arrived on Friday in the commercial capital, Abidjan, paving the way for the West African nation to launch a vaccination campaign next week.
