More than 1,000 COVID-19 deaths occurred each day for 14 days in a row in the UK in January, new figures show. The death toll, based on mentions of COVID-19 on death certificates, reached 1,273 on January 16 – the highest number of deaths to take place on a single day in the second wave so far. Magistrate Court in Makurdi, Tuesday, ordered for the remand of Mernyi Christopher, who is charged with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, act of terrorism and culpable homicide. The Federal Government has extended the deadline for the linkage of the National Identity Number (NIN) to Subscriber Identity Modules (SIM) by eight weeks. The Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde stated this in a statement released on February 2.
