In an effort to rid Akwa Ibom State of fake and expired drugs, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria publicly burnt the drugs worth N18,675,850 on Friday. The PSN Chairman, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Akwaowo Akpabio, said the body would not tolerate expired drugs within the reach of citizens in the state. Akpabio used the occasion to call on Akwa Ibom State government to reconstitute the task force on fake and expired drugs in the state, explaining that Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria is not empowered to rid stores of fake drugs. The facilitation of development projects for the 26 constituencies in Akwa Ibom State has raised dust of suspicion, Straightnews has learned. The telecoms operators (Telcos) have assured to obey the directive of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) as ordered by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami. NCC had on Wednesday directed all telecoms operators to immediately suspend further sale and activation of SIM cards. They, however, appealed to telecoms subscribers to bear the inconveniences that the exercise might cause them. Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, is worried over the sorry state of education, which is the decline in the standard of education in the country. Like yams, two women were roasted to their bones by angry mob over allegation of their involvement in child kidnapping in Iwo, Osun State on Thursday, December 10. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wednesday, pledged to commit additional $250 million for e research, development and equitable delivery of life-saving tools in the global effort against COVID-19.
