Nigeria has confirmed 225 new Coronavirus cases from 11 states Tuesday night, bringing confirmed cases to 60,655 in the country. Announcing this in its Twitter handle, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said Lagos recorded the highest being 165. According to NCDC, FCT trailed with 17, Rivers with 13 and Ogun- 12. Others are Niger – 8, Delta – 4, Ondo – 2, Anambra – 1, Edo – 1, Ekiti – 1, Kaduna – 1. So far, 52,006 have been discharged while the pandemic has claimed 1,116 lives in the country.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has set up a new Police outfit to take over from the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police Force. It is known as Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team and will fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS. Daring cultists have allegedly razed a police outstation in Inen Ekeffe, Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
