The University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in Nigeria has pepped up its academic powerhouse with the promotion of 55 as Professors and Associate Professors. The Senate of the 30-year-old Federal institution has approved the promotions. The 36 Nigerian Governors have dragged President Muhammadu Buhari to Supreme Court over his Presidential Executive Order No. 00-10 of 2020 signed into law in May 2020. The order pushes the Federal Government’s responsibility of funding both the capital and recurrent expenditures of the state high courts, Sharia Court of Appeal and the Customary Court of Appeal, to the state governments. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced big plan to increase Eskom’s capacity by more than 30 per cent in electricity supply after many years of power outage and load-shedding. The Federal Government has suspended the electricity tariff hike for two weeks, while the new pump price of petrol is to remain unchanged. An agreement between the Federal Government and organized labour after an eight-hour meeting shows that both parties set up a technical committee on Electricity Tariff reforms, comprising Ministries, Agencies, Departments, NLC and TUC.
