Roughly, this is a five per cent decrease from the 112,836 who arrived during the same period last year. Arrivals this year to Greece and Spain are at 60,363 and 24,976, respectively, (85,339 combined) accounting for just over 79 per cent of the regional total, with the balance arriving in much smaller numbers to Italy, Malta and Cyprus. The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25 and Thursday, December 26, 2019, as well as Wednesday, January 1, 2020, as public holidays. The holidays are to commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations, respectively. Hope is rising for the reconstruction of defunct Science and Technology Park, Uyo in Akwa Ibom state, 13 years after its conception. The project conceived by a former governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah in 2006 was abandoned by the contractor after he had collected a whopping N5.2 billion upfront.
